Fire at Refuge Coffee in Fairhope Quickly Extinguished

A malfunction in a machine sent smoke throughout the Refuge Coffee shop located on Greeno Road in Fairhope Saturday afternoon.

911 received a call of a fire just before 5 p.m. and dispatched the Fairhope
Fire Department which also brought an automatic mutual-aid response from several other fire departments, law enforcement and EMS.

Firefighters quickly determined that the cause of the smoke and burnt smell was coming from a piece of equipment.

The store was cleared of smoke by fire personnel and all fire departments returned to service shortly thereafter.
