An Etowah County law enforcement team was conducting an interdiction operation on March 4th that resulted in a major drug seizure and arrest.
The county sheriff’s office’s unit known as ACE (Active Criminal Enforcement) was patrolling several area roads when deputies pulled over Tostig Denard Moore, 40, of Attalla, on Highway 431 South in the Glencoe area for a traffic infraction.
The unit deployed K-9 “TEDI” around the vehicle during the stop and the dog alerted to drugs being in the vehicle which gave law enforcement probable cause to conduct a search of the car and during their search, investigators discovered two pounds of fentanyl.
“The dedication of our ACE Unit and partnerships with local and federal agencies continue to make a major impact in removing dangerous narcotics from our communities,” said Sheriff Jonathan Horton. “This record-breaking fentanyl seizure demonstrates the effectiveness of proactive enforcement and highlights our commitment to keeping Etowah County safe.”
Moore was taken into custody and charged with Trafficking Fentanyl and is being held on $1 million cash bond.
The sheriff said that Moore was already out on bond for a methamphetamine trafficking charge.
