ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. A Florida man previously found guilty of three counts of sexual battery while he was in a position of “custodial authority” has recently returned to court for sentencing.
Adrian Mark Enfinger was given three life sentences to be served in a Florida state prison.
In Florida law, the term “custodial authority” is primarily used in criminal statutes related to offenses against minors or vulnerable persons, such as sexual battery or identity fraud, rather than in the context of general family law “custody” proceedings.
“Custodial authority” refers to a position of control, supervision, or a recognizable bond of trust over a victim, where the perpetrator takes advantage of that authority.
According to a news release from the First Judicial Circuit of Florida, Enfinger had inappropriately touched a child, and once investigators interviewed the child, they found that the actions had been going on for months.
Enfinger admitted to the allegations, according to the release.
