Escambia Florida Storm Injures 3, Damages Buildings

ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla.

Authorities reported several people were injured and buildings damaged in a sudden storm that hit during the afternoon hours.

At this time, authorities say that it may have been straight-line winds or a localized burst, but nothing has been confirmed yet.
Some of the damage indicates that it may have been a tornado, and the National Weather Service is evaluating that as well.

It happened at around 4:20 p.m. in the 3300 block Copter Road in the Ellyson Industrial Park off of Davis Hwy. and Scenic Hwy.

Multiple Escambia County fire, deputies, and EMS units responded and immediately began searching for injured persons.

Authorities said that the aftermath damage includes buildings with their roof ripped off and multiple power lines down, power outages, and debris in the roadway.

The county says of the three injuries, two people were hospitalized. The injuries were reportedly minor.
