Elderly Man Killed in Wilmer House Fire

WILMER, Ala.

The Wilmer Fire Department was dispatched out to a house fire Monday morning at 12461 Wilmer Farm Road around 9:13 a.m.

When firefighters arrived, they saw fire and smoke coming from the home according to Wilmer Volunteer Fire Chief Charles Harvey. The home was destroyed in the fire.

Chief Harvey said that an elderly man died in the fire, and he has not been identified but the man was 82 years old.

Mobile County deputies have been on the scene all day.

Currently, the cause of the fire is unknown.
