FOLEY, Ala. Dry weather and high humidity, are a recipe for an increased fire threat along the Gulf Coast.
There has been minimal rainfall in the area during the past ten days.
Firefighters have begun to see an increase in brush and wood fires during the past week, responding to more than a dozen outside fires in the past five days.
A power line that snapped in the Crossroads community on Friday night is also responsible for sparking a grass fire that burned close to a house. Before firefighters could put water on the fire, they had to ensure that the line was not charged and actively carrying electrical power.
Wood and grass fires have been reported in Foley, Rosinton, Gulf Shores, the Gateswood Community, Crossroads, and Whitehouse Fork areas, Summerdale, Elsanor, Robertsdale, Lillian, Elberta, Daphne, and Lottie.
Authorities are reminding everyone that a No Burn Ban remains in effect through October 31st.
Persons could receive citations for violating this ban.
