As the Mardi Gras parades rolled through the streets of Mobile Saturday, police and tow truck drivers were busy issuing parking citations and towing vehicles.
With construction happening along the I-10 corridor and in the downtown area where many are used to parking during this time of year, parking is a bit tight for revelers and parade watchers.
However, earlier this month, police and city officials announced that additional parking had been made available and that they would enforce parking violations if cars were parked in the wrong places.
Parking on private property without authorization is trespassing, a violation of the law.
In all, dozens of parking tickets were issued, and thirty six vehicles were towed by law enforcement.
Additionally, private property owners also had vehicles removed from their properties during the parades.
The Mobile Police Department estimated 29,568 people attended the Bayport Parading Society and Mystic DJ Riders parades and an estimated 52,240 people attended the Pharoahs and Conde Explorers parades Saturday.
