Daphne Police Arrest 2 Persons For Drugs and Engaging in a Pursuit
DAPHNE, Ala.
An investigation into narcotic sales in the city led by the Daphne Police Department turned into a sudden pursuit Saturday night according to DPD.
According to Daphne officials, 27-year-old Fredrick Rhoden had been under surveillance for a couple of weeks on suspicion that he was selling marijuana to high-school students.
Police had been following him Saturday, November 30th when they observed him pull into a gas station and when officers attempted to stop him, police say that he fled and got onto Interstate 10.
Police at that point spotted the driver, and a female passenger later identified as 32-year-old Tanajah McConnico throwing things out the windows.
Police were able to get the vehicle stopped and that’s when they discovered that McConnico’s 1-year-old daughter was in the backseat, according to officials.
Rhoden was arrested and charged with first-degree possession of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, felony chemical endangerment of a child, and tampering with evidence.
McConnico was arrested and charged with felony chemical endangerment of a child and attempting to elude police.
A police K-9 was also called to the scene where the dog located a half pound of weed along the interstate.
Both have been released from the Baldwin County Jail on bond.
