MOBILE, AL. A Mobile County jury has found a Coden man guilty of sexual abuse of a child.
Slade Harbison II was found guilty of sex abuse of a child under 12, second-degree rape, and first-degree sodomy.
According to Mobile County District Attorney Keith Blackwood, a jury found that Harbison had groomed the victim and isolated the individual in order to continue the abuse.
Authorities say that the victim went to a school counselor to report the abuse.
“It takes incredible strength for a child to speak up against someone they trusted, and this victim’s bravery ensured justice could be done,” Blackwood said. “People who prey on children destroy lives and families, and this office will aggressively prosecute anyone who commits these horrific crimes.”
Assistant District Attorney Theresa Harris, Trial Coordinator Jillian Williams, and the Child Victim Prosecution Team represented the State of Alabama.
Harbison is set to be sentenced on March 23rd, 2026.
