GULF SHORES, Ala. Local police agencies in Baldwin County have made numerous felony drug arrests in recent days. Most arrests were made during the officer’s interactions with the person during an incident or traffic stop.
ALANA LEIGH BENTLEY was arrested by Baldwin County deputies on April 28, 2026, and charged with Felony Drug Trafficking.
CAMERON SABASTIAN BROAD, 25, was arrested by Foley police officers and charged with Felong Possession of Dangerous Drugs.
SAMUEL MARVIN BROWN, 57, was arrested by Baldwin County deputies on April 28th, 2026, and charged with Possession of Dangerous Drugs and Driving on a Revoked Driver’s License.
HOLLY KATE COLLINS,49, was arrested by Orange Beach police officers on April 27, 2026, on charges of Methamphetamine-Possession and Drug Paraphernalia-1st Offense.
DESTIN XAVIER EVANS, 25, was arrested by officers with the Bay Minette Police Department on April 27th, 2026. He was charged with Obstructing Police- Attempting to Elude Police, Marijuana-Possession and Drug Paraphernalia-1st Offense.
JOSEPH WAYNE HEARN was arrested by Fairhope police officers on April 27, 2026, and charged with Possession of Dangerous Drugs.
ALAN ARTHUR ORR,73, has been arrested by officers with the Orange Beach police department on April 28, 2026. He was charged with Possession of Methamphetamine with intent to-Sell/Distribute.
CYNTHIA ELAINE BOZEMAN, 57, was taken into custody and arrested by Baldwin County Sheriff deputies and charged with Dangerous Drugs-IPOPD Illegal Possession of Prescription Drugs on April 22, 2026.
All individuals arrested are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

FAIRHOPE, Ala. The woman arrested by Fairhope police for wearing a penis costume during a no kings protest is now suing the city for wrongful arrest.
Jenae Renae Gamble was arrested in October on Greeno Road when police said she refused to remove a large, inflatable penis costume.
Gamble was found innocent of all charges earlier this month and now wants the city to pay her $2M for wrongful prosecution according to a four-page statement of claim submitted earlier this month.
Gamble is also seeking payment of her attorney fees by the city, a formal apology and acknowledgement that her arrest was unlawful, additional training for all members of the Fairhope Police Department, and a requirement that all new police hires take and pass a U.S. Citizenship Test.
David Gespass, the attorney representing Gamble, said Alabama law requires anyone intending to file a lawsuit against a municipality to submit a notice of claim within six months, allowing the city time to investigate the merits of the claim.
The notice of claim is a prerequisite to filing a lawsuit, Gespass said. He added that the statement applies only to state causes of action against the city, not to federal constitutional claims, which he said the state cannot regulate. He also noted that a claim against a city official in their official capacity is “still a claim against the city and is covered by the notice of claim prerequisite.”
Gamble’s statement accuses the city of false arrest, false imprisonment, and assault and battery, citing state law establishing municipal liability for neglect, carelessness, or unskillfulness by a city agent “engaged in work for the city and acting in line of his duty.”
Her attorney has maintained that the costume was neither provocative or abusive nor obscene.
Fairhope Mayor Sherry Sullivan declined to comment.

THOMASVILLE, Ala. A Thomasville police officer and Marine was laid to rest Wednesday as his family, friends and fellow officers gathered at the Thomasville Civic Center to honor Officer Dallas Hinton, who died in a crash after leaving his shift last week.
It has been a somber week in the community as many paid tributes to the twenty-five-year-old who served his country and his community. Although Hinton had only been a police officer for two years, he had made an impact on the city and those that he served.
Hinton, 25, was a police officer for two years and a former Marine.
Thomasville Mayor Sheldon Day said the loss has shaken the entire community.
Fellow officers stood in solidarity, paying tribute to one of their own.
“The family has felt it. We all have gathered around this family. Dallas left a legacy of love and support for his family. They lost a brother and we lost a dear community servant and former Marine. He was a hero,” Day said.
Thomasville Police Chief Mitchell Stuckey said that he’ll always remember the day he came in before he died. He was smiling. Laughing. He was such a fine young man. The chief that he was part of the future. He’ll certainly be missed, Stuckey said.
A 21-gun salute outside of the civic center closed the service.
Following the ceremony, a procession left for Tuscaloosa, Hinton’s hometown, where he will be laid to rest.

BALDWIN COUNTY, Ala. At approximately 11:15 a.m., law enforcement attempted to conduct a traffic stop in Summerdale, but the driver fled engaging in a pursuit.
A vehicle pursuit ended in front of Central Baldwin Middle School, where deputies conducted a successful PIT maneuver (The Precision Immobilization Technique) to stop the vehicle and prevent further risk to the public. In doing so, the vehicle flipped onto its side and the driver was taken into custody without further incident.
Because the vehicle came to a stop on school grounds, the campus was briefly placed on lockdown as a precaution while deputies secured the area.
The suspect did not attempt to enter the school, and there was no direct threat to students or staff.
The sheriff’s School Resource Unit worked quickly with school administrators to implement safety protocols. The lockdown was lifted shortly after the suspect was taken into custody and the scene was secure.

MOBILE COUNTY, Ala. Authorities say that a 19-year-old man who was fishing on the Cedar Point Pier with three others fell off the pier and currents swept him underneath. He disappeared, and officials are still looking for him.
A Mobile County Sheriff’s Office official said that a 911 call came in at about 2 a.m. and emergency responders were immediately dispatched to the area.
Chief Deputy Andrew Peak said the man fell while trying to untangle fishing line.
“He was sitting on the banister of the pier trying to untangle some fishing line,” Peak said. “He lost his footing and fell over backwards into the water.”
Rescue crews are continuing their search for the missing fisherman this morning.
Law enforcement said that the currents were moving fast and he was quickly swept away underneath the bridge, but he was able to cling to the pier for a brief period before losing his grip.
Dauphin Island police arrived on the scene quickly and attempted to throw life-saving buoys towards the man but because of the current, the fisherman was unable to make it to those buoys but at some point, he lost his grip.
The U.S. Coast Guard, Mobile County Sheriff’s Flotilla and Dauphin Island Police Department are all assisting in the search efforts. Authorities are actively conducting search operations in the Mississippi Sound and Mobile Bay.
Law enforcement has not released the fisherman’s name at this time.

FLORENCE, Ala. Police in the northwestern part of Alabama say that a man that officers were arresting on Wednesday grabbed their police K-9 and bit the dog while officers were subduing him.
Police said that the man, identified as David Culliver, 46, of Sheffield, was resisting arrest and that their police dog had bitten the man and that’s when he sunk his teeth into the police dog.
Police body camera footage released by the department depicts the encounter between Culliver and police that were helping to execute a search warrant in the 200 block of North Locust Street.
“Culliver was not involved in the investigation and inserted himself into the situation,” the department said in a Facebook post. “He became belligerent, yelled at officers, and stepped into an active roadway with flowing traffic.”
Culliver walked up to officers several times seemingly intoxicated and has several exchanges with them.
After refusing to leave the area, police attempted to arrest Culliver and that’s when he began fighting officers.
During the attempted arrest, Culliver asks why he is being arrested and can be seen struggling as four officers surround him.
Body cam footage from “officer 2” or the K-9 officer shows him behind the four officials and telling them to “watch out” or they’ll get bit.
As one officer holds Culliver’s upper body and another holds his legs, the dog is commanded to bite him.
Culliver grabs the dog’s leg as he is being bitten, and several officers strike him in the head and upper body before he lets go. That is when Culliver bites the dog and is struck several more times before eventually being handcuffed by police.
“The incident has been thoroughly reviewed, and the use of force applied has been determined to be justified,” Florence police said.
Culliver was taken to North Alabama Medical Center to be treated for his K-9 wounds and then taken to the Lauderdale County Detention Center.
He has a $2,500 bond and is charged with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, public intoxication and interfering with a police dog.

Police in Silverhill responded to a domestic incident involving a man who had assaulted a woman while armed. Police also said that he interfered with the legal custody of a child.
The Silverhill Police obtained several arrest warrants for Timothy James Richert charging him with Kidnapping-Interference with Custody, Aggravated Assault and Menacing With a Weapon.
Richert has been taken into custody and booked into the Baldwin County Detention Center where he remains today.

Daphne, Ala. The Daphne police department have reported making numerous arrests for driving under the influence, during the past ten days.
Bradley Steven Summer was arrested on April 15, 2026, in the area of Whispering Pines and Jubilee Oaks at around 10 p.m.
Officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of 20000 block of State Hwy 181 (Exchange Apartments) and found that the driver was under the influence on April 16, 2026. Wesley Dylan Reed was charged with Driving Under the Influence – Alcohol at around 11:25 p.m.
Mayson Suzannah Hale was stopped for a traffic infraction on April 17, 2026, at 2:56 a.m. near Ryan Avenue. The officer found Hale to be impaired. Hale was arrested for Driving Under the Influence (Alcohol)
On April 18th, 2026, a Daphne police officer witnessed a traffic infraction and conducted a traffic stop on a driver, later identified as Lana Keahey Nelson in the 20000 block of US Hwy 98 (Wild Wing Station). The officer determined Nelson to be driving impaired and she was arrested for Driving Under the Influence (Alcohol) at approximately 1 a.m.
During their patrols, officers also stopped Daniel Francisco McKittrick on April 18, 2026, at approximately 3:36 a.m. in the area of State Hwy 181 @ Pleasant Rd. The officer determined that McKittrick was Driving Under the Influence and he was arrested and transported to the Daphne jail.
Katie Lynn Williamson was also arrested for DUI on April 18, 2026 at 9:30 p.m.
Daphne police officers conducted several traffic stops after observing traffic infractions on April 19th, 2026. Phillip Lee Thompson was arrested for Driving Under the Influence at approximately 1:05 a.m.
Ernest Thomas Dixon was also arrested on the same charge in the 1000 block of Pollard Road on April 23rd, 2026, at around 12:10.
On Saturday, April 25th, 2026, five drivers faced Driving Under the Influence charges after being stopped at separate times and locations.
Fitzgerald Lamar Wright was stopped at US 98 @ Santa Rosa Avenue.
Jennifer Lauren Petry was stopped at 3:11 a.m. at US 98 @ Lavender Drive.
Alexzander Albert Abraham Walker was also arrested for Possession of Marijuana 2nd degree at the same location and time.
Malachi Eliam Baker was arrested at 5:02 a.m. after being involved in a traffic collision on Pollard Road and charged with Driving Under the Influence.
Anthony Lee Jordan was arrested for Driving under the Influence at 7:07 p.m. on April 25th, 2026, at US 98 @ Bass Pro Drive.
Daphne police also charged David Wayne Holbrook on April 25, 2026, with Driving Under the Influence – Alcohol, during a traffic stop at the Waffle House.
On April 26, 2026, at approximately 02:31, police conducted a traffic stop for a violation at US 98 and Lavender Lane at 2:31 a.m. The driver, identified as Jessica Paulin Bates was found to be driving while impaired and was charged with Driving Under the Influence – Alcohol, and was transported to the Daphne city jail.
At 2:38 a.m., another Daphne police officer conducted a traffic stop in the area of 7000 block of US Hwy 90. While the officer was speaking with the driver, identified as Kaleb Wayne Schmidt, it was determined that Schmidt was Driving Under the Influence and was placed under arrest and taken to the city jail.
Also on April 26th, 2026, police stopped a vehicle for a traffic infraction. The driver identified as Madilyn Elizabeth Bruce was identified to be intoxicated and too impaired to be driving.
Bruce was charged with Driving Under the Influence (Alcohol) and taken to the Daphne jail.
William Andrew Sullivan was also arrested for Driving Under the Influence – Alcohol after police conducted a traffic stop on US Highway 98 near the United Community Bank.
All drivers are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

FOLEY, Ala. A new Foley Public Library is currently under construction and closing in on the finish line, which is exciting for the city’s residents.
The new multimillion-dollar, state-of-the-art library facility on East Orange Avenue, just down the road from the current library, has many local residents very excited about this addition to their community.
“We will double in size,” the city’s librarian, Kate Norris, said. “We’re going to be much larger, and we’re excited about that because we are busy.”
As the City of Foley continues to grow, so must the amenities and services that we offer.
Once the new library is ready to move into, they’ll begin the move to their new home, moving more than 60,000 books, furniture and boxes and boxes of contents from the old library.
Library staff are estimating that it’ll take about three weeks in all to move and get everything situated and ready for opening but the staff said that they are ready and very excited about the move.
Construction of the new library is expected to be wrapped up in June. Library staff said they are hoping to hold a grand opening for the new facility near the start of the upcoming school year in August.
There’s a lot of work to be done between now and then, but it’ll all be worth it, they said.
In the new library, adult books will be featured on the second floor. Youth content will be downstairs, separated into children’s, teens and tweens sections.
The new library will also offer more hands-on learning and even assistance with being more proficient with a computer.

MOBILE COUNTY, AL. An arrest has been made in last week’s gruesome quadruple homicide in Wilmer.
Mobile County sheriff investigators made the arrest early Tuesday after executing a search warrant at the home of 54-year-old William Graham Oliver who is now charged with eight counts of capital murder in connection with the killings of 46-year-old Lisa Fields, 17-year-old Keziah Lucker, who was pregnant, and 12-year-old Thomas Cordelle, Jr.
The sheriff said that sheriff’s deputies and SWAT descended upon his house, searching for evidence in a quadruple murder so savage and brutal, it’s almost beyond comprehension.
Investigators said that Oliver’s home in Wilmer is about 11 miles from where the crime occurred.
Olive was arrested while driving near his home after being pulled over by deputies.
Several in the community who are familiar with Oliver said that he was friendly, a handyman and they could not picture him a s akiller.
At a news conference following today’s search and arrest, Mobile County Sheriff Paul Burch offered these words of caution.
“Well, you know, unless you live with someone for a long time you never know what you’re capable of doing or what their motivations are. And it is a shocking crime for anyone, especially if it’s someone you know.”
Shortly after Oliver was booked at Metro Jail, Mobile County Sheriff Paul Burch offered limited details about the arrest.
Yes, Oliver is the sole suspect, he said, and yes, he knew the victims.
“Any time there are children involved, it makes it a little tougher,” Burch said, somberly. “And, you know, especially an unborn child. But again, he will, you know, he’ll face justice, but he’ll ultimately face the ultimate justice on Judgment Day.”
Though there were only four victims, including the unborn child, William Oliver faces eight counts of capital murder because of other crimes that occurred in connection with the murders, including burglary, and the death of a child less than 14 years old.
Oliver currently is charged with:
1 count – Capital (2 or more people)
4 counts – Capital (Burglary)
2 counts – Capital (child less than 14)
1 count – Capital (in the presence of a child)

UPDATE:We have confirmed that the person was a military veteran who went to the hospital and committed suicide out front. We are not releasing his name.
This is the third suicide in Fairhope in recent months.
FAIRHOPE, Ala. At approximately 1:20 a.m. Wednesday morning, April 29th, 2026, a person arrived at Thomas Hospital and fatally shot himself in the head.
EMS personnel and hospital staff immediately began treating the person who appeared to be in critical condition.
Fairhope police responded to the hospital and began an investigation.
The Fairhope Fire Department were also dispatched to the front of the hospital.
We have been told this morning by someone familiar with the shooting that the patient did not survive but we cannot confirm this at this time.
We have also been told by a family member that the man lived in Bay Minette and worked in Fairhope and that he was a military veteran.

MOBILE, Ala. A Daphne man arrested after a cyber tip in December 2023 has now been sentenced to serve more than 24 years in prison for sexual exploitation of a teenage girl.
Forrest Christopher Sanford, 26, pleaded guilty in January to transportation of a minor for sex. After his prison term, he will be supervised by the U.S. Probation Office for 15 years and will have to register as a sex offender.
According to court documents, the cyber tip led law enforcement to online activity and Sanford boasted of obtaining sexual images of a 16-year-old through Snapchat, according to his written plea agreement.
Sanford also confessed that he chatted with minors and posed as a minor to obtain nude photos, according to his written plea agreement. He also admitted to a physical relationship with a 14-year-old Mississippi girl that lasted seven months in 2021.
The plea document also states that Sanford brought the girl to his parents’ home in Alabama. When they went out for errands, he would sexually abuse her there, according to the plea document.
According to the plea document, Sanford would drive to the girl’s home and sexually abuse her after sneaking into her bedroom window. He also would have sex with the girl in the parking lot of a sporting goods store in D’Iberville and the parking lot of a restaurant, the plea agreement states.
Authorities say that Sanford was a predator and victimized underaged girls online.
FOLEY, Ala. Shortly after noon on Friday, April 24, 2026, Foley Police responded to a complaint that Grant Barrett, age 42 of Gulf Breeze, took an acquaintance against their will, threatening force while traveling from Gulf Breeze to Foley.
Foley Officers contacted Barrett and the unharmed 71-year-old male victim shortly after the initial complaint.
After an investigation, Grant David Barrett was arrested for second-degree kidnapping, second-degree marijuana possession, and third-degree criminal mischief.
Foley Detectives also coordinated with the Santa Rosa County Major Crimes Unit and additional charges are pending in Santa Rosa County Florida.
Barrett is currently held at the Baldwin County Correctional Facility without bond.

FAIRHOPE, Ala. For several years I’ve watched an abandoned motel property along Mobile Street fade away but now, a new buyer has stepped forward and announced that they’ll be bringing the former Barons Inn which was damaged during Hurricane Sally in 2020 back to life in a new venture.
The property has been purchased by the long-time owners of the ‘Little Point Clear’ venue just down the road.
The 701 S. Mobile Street property with 26 rooms, will undergo major renovations and be reborn as the ‘Little Point Clear Scenic Inn’.
According to a Facebook post, the inn will be open for vacationers in early 2027. The buildings will be renovated in a coastal Fairhope vibe theme, the post went on to say.
Over the years, the inn, which opened in 1953 and called the Magnolia Beach Motel, has seen its ups and downs like any business. Originally owned and operated by Mr. and Mrs. F. Wayne Hughes, it was later sold to the Khim N. Vira family.
The inn, situated on a corner property directly across from the bay, will surely be another attraction that will bring travelers to Fairhope. The inn is just steps from downtown restaurants and attractions.
As of now, there’s still paperwork and city approvals, planning other details that must be finalized.

DAPHNE, Ala. A driver lost control of his vehicle early Saturday morning, April 25, 2026, as he was driving in the area of 26258 Pollard Rd.
At around 5:00 a.m., the Baldwin County 911 Communication Center received a call saying that a vehicle had crashed into a building near that location and that airbags had deployed.
Daphne police and fire departments along with EMS responded to the scene.
According to police, Malachi Eliam Baker was identified as the driver of the vehicle.
Baker received minor injuries, but police determined that he had been driving while impaired.
Baker was charged with Driving Under the Influence and was later booked into the Daphne city jail.

A shooting at a Mobile apartment complex on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at approximately 6:45 p.m. left two people with injuries.
Officers responded to 3250 Dauphin Street (Dauphin Gate Apartments) and found that the wounded people were transported to a local hospital by a personal vehicle.
Police continued their investigation and have now arrested Andre Nelson, 33 for that shooting.
Nelson has been charged with two counts of First Degree Assault (Felony) and booked into the metro jail.

ATMORE, Ala. A man is facing multiple serious charges after authorities say he tried to smuggle drugs and other contraband into an Alabama prison.
The individual, now identified by Alabama Department of Corrections as Horace Laster was visiting an inmate when officers searched him and discovered a large amount of contraband.
Authorities say that the agency’s Southern K-9 Unit stopped the attempt on Saturday around 12:30 p.m. at Holman Correctional Facility.
Laster had been visiting Akeem Prewitt, who is serving a 40-year sentence for murder out of Tuscaloosa County.
Authorities say the search turned up a variety of illegal items, including drugs and electronic devices. Seized items included 35 buprenorphine strips, three cell phones, a SIM card, about 66 grams of marijuana, roughly 140 grams of methamphetamine, and about 14 grams of fentanyl.
Laster was immediately arrested and now faces a long list of charges including trafficking methamphetamine, trafficking fentanyl, promoting prison contraband (first and second degree), unlawful possession of a controlled substance, first-degree marijuana possession, prohibited activities, and attempting to commit a controlled substance crime.
Laster was arrested at the scene and taken to the Escambia County Detention Facility.

GRAND BAY, Ala. Authorities from several state and federal agencies are continuing their investigation after an Amtrak train sliced through an 18-wheel as it tried crossing the tracks Sunday morning in Grand Bay. The wreck tore through the truck spewing debris over a large area.
Amtrak is working with local law enforcement to investigate the crash that occurred on April 26, 2026, when Amtrak train No. 23, known as the Mardi Gras, was traveling from Mobile to New Orleans around 7:20 a.m. That’s when authorities say that a semi-trailer with an auto rack came into contact with the train on CSX tracks south of Mobile.
Authorities now have said that four people were injured in the crash including two crew members of the train, and two occupants of the truck. None were seriously injured and there have been no reports of any of the forty-eight passengers aboard being injured either.
After the crash, the tracks in the area were shut down for hours and law enforcement and federal personnel investigated the crash. Passengers aboard the train were provided with snack packs and water on board the train during the time that the train was stopped and later returned to Mobile and provided alternative transportation to New Orleans.
“Preventing incidents and fatalities on the railroad is a priority for Amtrak,” a press release stated.
“These incidents can affect everyone involved—those who are injured or die and their families, our train crews, and our passengers. They also serve as critical reminders about the importance of obeying the law and of exercising extreme caution around railroad tracks and grade crossings.”
According to The Federal Railroad Administration, trespassing along railroad rights-of-way is the leading cause of rail-related deaths in America, and railroad-highway grade crossing incidents are the second leading cause of rail-related deaths in America, the release said.
There have been at least six wrecks involving the Amtrak Mardi Gras since service restarted on August 18, 2025. At least three people have died, and a dozen have been injured according to police reports.
In all of these Amtrak wrecks, the train had the right of way and the vehicle drivers have either gone around stop bars or driven across the tracks ignoring the oncoming train.
Orange Beach, Ala. A loud and wild fun event will be coming back to Orange Beach for the 7th Annual Orange Beach Powerboat Week.
Powerboat teams from across the southern United States will be gathering in Orange Beach for the multi-day event will be held at The Wharf, the central hub for all activities.
Organizers say the event draws participants from Texas to the Atlantic Coast.
The venue offers lodging, dining, entertainment, and marina access in one location which makes it a very convenient place for all of the events.
This year’s event will kick off on Thursday, May 7th, through Sunday May 10, 2026.
According to promotors, this is the only event on the FPC calendar where all activities occur at a single venue.
Daytime cruises will depart from Orange Beach, with planned routes heading both eastbound and westbound. Evening activities will be held from Thursday through Saturday.
Participants will journey through coastal waters from Navarre Beach, Florida, to Mobile, Alabama. The event also offers offshore boating opportunities in the Gulf. Organizers emphasize the area’s sandy beaches and protected waterways as significant attractions for boaters. Additionally, the location is less than one hour from Interstate 10, ensuring easy access for travelers.
Participants and their followers say that they love the area and its amenities and are looking forward to the event.
Event organizers say the gathering is designed for boaters passing through the region, especially those returning home from Florida for the summer. The centralized setup at The Wharf allows attendees to stay, dock, and participate in activities without leaving the venue.
A floating dock marina will accommodate visiting boats.

DAPHNE, Ala. As the small box type postal trucks continue aging and many in need of replacement, a new updated design electric truck may soon be cruising the streets near you.
No, they’re not self-driving nor have AI technology that delivers the mail, but no doubt that’ll be in their next version of mail carrier updates.
The new USPS trucks, known as the Next Generation Delivery Vehicle (NGDV), are manufactured by Oshkosh Defense and began rolling out in late 2024 to replace the aging Grumman LLV fleet.
These trucks feature air conditioning, 360-degree cameras, increased cargo capacity, and are available in both battery-electric and fuel-efficient gas variants, with a long-term plan to transition to a mostly electric fleet.
The Atlanta area postal service recently received some of these vehicles and one driver told us that they often catch people looking at the new trucks quietly rolling down the busy streets. The driver turns, smiles and waves and keeps rolling on, quietly.
