BALDWIN COUNTY, Ala.
Fire departments in our area have seen an increase in brush fires during the past two weeks, primarily because of a lack of rain and careless burning.
The increase of brush and wood fires includes both Mobile and Baldwin counties, as well as counties north and west of our area.
During May 1 through October 31, there was a burn ban in effect in our area that has since been lifted.
In some areas, brush fires have rekindled during the same or following day.
It is important to control the area where brush, garbage, or debris is being burned and have fire control devices nearby.
Fire departments say that additional outdoor fires will probably continue until our area receives a steady and substantial amount of rainfall.
