Body of Missing Boater Recovered in Mobile Bay

POINT CLEAR, Ala. Multiple emergency responders were dispatched Saturday night, July 18, 2026, at around 8 p.m. to the area of the Grand Hotel on Scenic Highway 98, after it was reported that a man had fallen from a boat into the Mobile Bay and had not resurfaced.
Initial agencies included the Fairhope Volunteer Fire Department and Fairhope police, Medstar, and several others.
A person reported that the eighteen-year-old man either fell or jumped from a 22-foot 2007 Boston Whaler. Troopers said the teen left the vessel, entered the water and did not resurface. Passengers on board took control of the boat and attempted to locate the man and then called 911.
Additional responding agencies included the U.S. Coast Guard Air Station Mobile, Daphne Search and Rescue, the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office and its Flotilla, the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) Marine Resources Division, and ALEA’s Aviation Unit and Marine Patrol Division.
At approximately 9:59 a.m. Sunday, July 19, the youth’s body was recovered but authorities have not yet released his name.
ALEA Marine Patrol Troopers continue to investigate and said no additional information was available.
