Boat Wreck, Fleeing Operator Under Investigation

BARNWELL, Ala. Just minutes after midnight Sunday morning, on January 25th, 2026, the Baldwin County 911 Communication Center received an emergency call describing a watercraft accident in the vicinity of 10321 County Road 1, also called Pelican Point.
The Barnwell Fire Department, a Baldwin County Sheriff’s Deputy and an ambulance were immediately dispatched to the area.
Upon arrival, the fire department was informed by a witness that the person fled, leaving the vessel behind.
The witness stated that the vessel had been damaged but didn’t know to what extent.
EMS was canceled and the fire department went back in service leaving the scene to law enforcement.
According to law enforcement, the incident is under investigation.
