Birmingham Police Officers Injured After Being Struck by Vehicle

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. Two Birmingham police officers were rushed to UAB Hospital after they were hit by a vehicle while on a traffic stop.
Birmingham police reported that the officers were conducting a vehicle stop at about 12:30 a.m. in the 9700 block of Parkway East.
The injured officers were in separate vehicles when they were struck by an oncoming motorist.
The Birmingham Fire Department and EMS rushed to the scene.
The officers and driver were injured.
The officers were rushed to UAB Hospital in Birmingham via police escort and were alert when they left the scene.
Officer De’Rell Freeman said both sustained non-life-threatening injuries but the condition of the driver who struck the officers is unknown.
No additional information was immediately released.
