DAPHNE, Ala. As was previously announced, Bayfront Park in Daphne has been closed so that a major construction project can begin, and it’ll last through at least April of 2027.
A beautiful addition to the park is being added, including an amphitheater, splash pad, new restrooms, a shaded area, and more.
While all of this is going on, the park in general has been closed, but parts of the park will still be open during the regular hours.
However, entering the park will be from the back entrance and once you park your car, the journey will take down a trail marked “Caution-Alligators” and eventually across a scenic bridge crossing over water and surrounded by tall grass, flowers and sounds of birds, but do be aware that there are also snakes in the area and yes, alligators may be resting just off the trail.
The first phase of the construction will take down the trees on the north side of the park where the elevated building once stood, and then contractors will smooth out the area before building begins.
By the way, the casual walk to the bayfront area should only take 10-15 minutes or a bit more if you stop to listen to the sounds and check out the area fauna.
Just remember, the park closes at dusk.
