A challenging brush fire Wednesday afternoon showed no match for several local volunteer fire departments and the Alabama Forestry Department.
First reported to 911 communications at around 12:30 p.m. as a fire along Truck Route 17 near Brady Road, it soon showed that it would take more than a few minutes to extinguish it.
Firefighters with the Styx River Fire Department first had to access the fire by cutting through locked gates and then they made their way into the area of the fire.
The Rosinton Fire Department and the Alabama Department of Forestry were also called to the scene to assist in getting the fire knocked down.
The Forestry Department put a line around the fire.
Firefighters put in a lot of work for more than two hours before declaring the ten-acre fire out.
