ROSINTON COMMUNITY, Ala. A call for help was made to the Baldwin County 911 Communications Center early Tuesday morning asking for the fire department to respond to an 18-wheeler fire.
The Rosinton and Styx River Volunteer Fire Departments responded to the Oaises Travel Center located at 27801 County Road 64 Extension just after 3 a.m. and found the cab of a tanker truck fully involved.
Firefighters confronted heavy flames and a potential hazmat situation as they battled the truck fire.
It was reported that the tanker was not full but that there was still a dangerous situation and that the tanker needed to be removed from the cab.
The Baldwin County Emergency Management also worked with local firefighters on their plans to control any fuel spillage on the ground or runoff into nearby bodies of water or sewers.
Firefighters extinguished the fire in about an hour and no injuries were reported.
