Alabama Sheriff Arrested For Obstructing Government Operations
Lowndes County Ala.
Disrupting public meetings and acting disorderly is generally frowned upon, especially when the culprit is a law enforcement officer.
Lowndes County Sheriff Christopher West arrest stemmed from an argument West had with Lowndes County Commissioner Robert Harris over a plan to relocate sheriff’s office investigators to the former town hall in Hayneville.
Harris accused the sheriff of threatening the commissioners as they were voting on the proposal and disrupting the tally at the June 24 meeting.
Harris signed a warrant charging West with misdemeanor harassment and obstructing government operations and he was later released with a court date.
