Eufaula, Ala. Police are calling it a bizarre incident and have no explanation for it.
On July 2nd, 2026, a Eufaula man entered a local Walmart store and headed to the sporting goods area where he proceeded to open a two-pack of bear spray from off the shelf and began walking around and spraying it in several areas of the store, affecting several people.
He then attempted to return the product for a refund.
Police were called and officers quickly located Lonnie Britt Patrick, 37.
Patrick was arrested and charged with reckless endangerment and two counts of theft of property in the fourth degree.
Warrants were also signed for an incident in April for retail theft in the third degree, during which Patrick also stole a can of bear spray, but this time without using it.
Officials say Patrick has more charges pending due to the damage in the store Thursday.
Police say that Patrick did not say why he did this.
Patrick is currently on probation on unrelated charges.
