A man is in critical condition after police say that he was in the bed of a moving pickup truck and was thrown out.
Loxley Police say 45-year-old Lewis Patrick Farmer of Spanish Fort took a hard turn in the Stonebridge neighborhood and caused the victim to fall and hit his head on the pavement.
At this time Farmer is charged with driving under the influence and a passenger, 44-year-old Michael Allen Venable of Daphne, is charged with public intoxication.
The 43-year-old man had to be airlifted by a medical helicopter to a trauma center at University Hospital.
Police responded to Memphis Loop around 5:45 Saturday night, around the time a neighborhood witches ride event was ending.
When police arrived, several people were fighting, and the driver of the vehicle was also being held down on the ground by at least two men from the area.
