Former Florida Governor Nominee Andrew Gillum Arrested in Daphne on Drug Charges

DAPHNE, Ala. A police officer patrolling last Thursday, July 2nd, 2026, conducted a late-night traffic stop on a vehicle after seeing a vehicle being driven erratically.
According to Daphne Police, the driver was stopped at U.S. Highway 98 near North Main Street at approximately 10:45 p.m.
During the stop, one of the officers saw a glass pipe on the center console, police said. That observation led to a probable cause search of the vehicle which was being driven by 46-year-old Andrew Gillum of Tallahassee, Florida, a former nominee for Florida governor, police said.
Police said officers recovered several rolled marijuana cigarettes and three packages of a substance that tested positive for methamphetamine.
Officers took Gillum into custody, and he was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, a Class D felony, and possession of marijuana, second degree, a Class A misdemeanor.
He was booked into the Daphne City Jail and later transported to the Baldwin County Correctional Facility, where arrestees facing felony charges are held until they either bond out or make a first appearance in court.
