Mobile Police Announce Major Drug Arrests

MOBILE, AL.

A three-month narcotics initiative, Operation “Around the Way”, concluded on July 1, 2026. Its’ core intent was to keep sustained pressure on established drug hotspots aimed at keeping our neighborhoods safe.

Dealers had begun shifting their operations just outside of the known hotspots in an effort to evade enforcement, so the operation concentrated on those outer rings where illegal activity was attempting to re‑establish itself.

Through the investigation, we were able to monitor dealer movement patterns, identify stash houses, and follow narcotics back to their points of origin. This coordinated effort resulted in multiple arrests, the disruption of several distribution networks, and the recovery of drugs from residences and concealed storage locations, reinforcing the Mobile Police Department’s long‑term strategy to reduce trafficking across all precincts.  

During the operation, the Narcotics/Vice Unit executed 14 search warrants with assistance from SWAT and K-9.

Notable Arrest Precinct 1 – Narcotics/Vice executed a search warrant on Hoppins Street, arresting Edward Young, 69, for Trafficking Cocaine (48.7 g crack), seizing .38 Special and two vehicles.

Notable Arrests Precinct 4 – Narcotics/Vice made a significant arrest at a home near Mobile Christian School. Narcotics seized 36.4 pounds of Marijuana, 4 bottles of promethazine, Oxycodone Pills, $17,468, Canik-TP9, Money Counter, and three vehicles. Narcotics arrested Lakendrick Long, 29, Omega Spelton, 51, and Andre Roberts, 47.

Notable Arrests Precinct 3 – Narcotics/Vice executed a search warrant on Bond Street, seizing $12,000, Marijuana (448g). Narcotics arrested Ronald McCants, 36, and Monica McCants, 58.

Notable Arrests Precinct 4 – Narcotics/Vice executed a search warrant on Sawada Drive, arresting Malik Carter, 30, and Khail Carter, 22. Narcotics seized almost a half pound of Psilocybin mushrooms (239g), Marijuana (373g), $6,637.00, five firearms (Draco, AR-pistol, Springfield, .45ACP), and a truck.
