Two Men Die in Conecuh County Fire

CONECUH COUNTY, Ala. A fire has left two mobile men dead while at a hunting camp off State Highway 84 in Evergreen, authorities have reported.
Emergency responders were dispatched to the location at around 1 :30 a.m. Wednesday morning and found two men, now identified as students at the University of Alabama.
Two other men were able to escape the fire. They were injured but have non-life-threatening injuries.
According to the Conecuh County Fire Marshal, police and fire departments were called out to a hunting camp west of Evergreen off State Highway 84 in response to a fire around 2 a.m. Wednesday, July 1.
Two men from Mobile, 19 and 21 years old, were found dead on the scene, according to the Conecuh County Sheriff’s Office.
Late Wednesday, authorities identified the men as:
19-year-old Walter Hensley who was a 2025 graduate of St. Paul’s Episcopal School.
21-year-old McNeil Mostellar was a graduate of UMS-Wright.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
