Fire Truck Hit While Responding to Emergency Call

MOBILE COUNTY, Ala. A fire truck responding to a crash was involved in a crash involving a vehicle that struck the fire apparatus as well as hitting a tow truck.
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency and the St. Elmo-Irvington Volunteer Fire Department responded to a crash Saturday morning on I-10 in Mobile County involving a fire truck.
The fire chief says they were responding to a crash involving a pickup truck when a fire truck and tow truck were hit by a passing SUV. No one was hurt.
St. Elmo-Irvington Volunteer Fire Department Rescue 21 and a tow truck were struck by another vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed while operating on an emergency scene the chief said.
Rescue 21 is currently out of service due to the damage sustained in the crash.
No injuries were reported.
ALEA is investigating the wreck.
