Gulf Shores Police Warn of Fake $100 Bills Being Passed

GULF SHORES, Ala. If you’re a cashier or a local Gulf Shores business, you might want to take a second look at that $100 bill that your customer has handed you.
The Gulf Shores Police Department is investigating a scam that’s happening throughout the city involving fake $100 bills.
Police are asking for people with $100 bills to check and make sure that it’s real money.
Features on real U.S. currency include raised ink, a blue 3‑D ribbon, color‑shifting ink, and the Franklin watermark.
Officers ask businesses to check all $100 bills and if you suspect that it might be fake, to call the Gulf Shores police.
Passing any bogus money is a federal offense which could land the person is some serious trouble.
