Oil Rig Worker Rescued After Falling Into Gulf

FORT MORGAN, Ala. A dramatic rescue at sea took place Tuesday afternoon in the shadows of Alabama’s Gulf Coast.
Authorities stated that at around 11:40 a.m. on Tuesday, June 2nd, 2026, a worker on an oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico fell off into the water below and was being carried away by the strong currents.
The Baldwin County Communications Center received the 911 call and dispatched the Fort Morgan Volunteer Fire Department, deputy sheriffs and an ambulance to the area of Vacation Lane and Ponce de Leon Court where a staging area was established.
Additional resources including the Gulf Shores Police drone unit, Orange Beach Fire Boat, the U.S. Coast Guard and several agencies were also responded to the technical rescue.
According to authorities, the rescue was a coordinated effort in dangerous water, but the worker was recovered by rescuers.
There is no word on the person’s condition.
