Mobile Sheriff Issues Warning About Ankle Monitoring Fraud

MOBILE, Ala.
The Mobile County Sheriff’s Office is warning the public about scammers posing as employees of the Electronic Monitoring Unit.
These fraudsters are contacting recently released individuals, demanding money, and directing them to make payments at local machines.
The Mobile County Sheriff’s Office said that they will NEVER request payments over the phone or through unsolicited calls.
If you are suspicious of an employee’s identity or receive such a call, do not share personal information or make payments. Contact the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office immediately at (251) 574-8633 to verify or report suspicious activity.
