BIRMINGHAM, Ala. Police in Nashville have been looking for a man they say is accused of killing someone outside of a local market on July 2nd, 2025.
Investigators issued an arrest warrant, and now, the US Marshals have him in custody.
Christian A. Ibe, 27, was taken into custody by U.S. Marshals in Birmingham after following some leads and finding the man.
Ibr is accused of fatally shooting Marcus Caruthers, 33, outside Kings Market on Jefferson Street after an argument between Ibe and a woman turned violent. Police said Caruthers was attempting to intervene when he was shot.
At the time of the shooting, Ibe was out on bond for a 2024 domestic violence charge and was wearing a court-ordered ankle monitor.
But the Metro Police say he removed the monitor after the incident in early July and that
it was later found discarded on 11th Avenue North. His vehicle was also recovered unoccupied on 42nd Avenue North and impounded.
Ibe faces a charge of criminal homicide and will be extradited back to Nashville.
