89-Yr. Old Woman Fatally Injured in Wreck

MOBILE, AL. – A two-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 3:48 p.m. on Friday, October 3, 2025, has claimed the life of a Grand Bay woman.
ALEA troopers reported that Bernice L. Winston, 89, was critically injured when the 2009 Hyundai Sonata, she was driving, struck the 2006 Peterbuilt tractor-trailer, driven by Nathaniel M. Osterkamp, 63, of Grand Bay.
Winston was transported to USA University Hospital in Mobile, where she later succumbed to injuries and was pronounced deceased.
The crash occurred on Dawes Road near Ben Hamilton Road, approximately 11 miles west of Mobile City Limits, in Mobile County.
Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
