6 Car Pile-Up in Summerdale Injures Several Persons

SUMMERDALE Ala.
A six-vehicle pile-up Friday evening in Summerdale injured several people and shut down part of Highway 59 for over an hour.
The wreck, which occurred at the intersection of County Road 32 and State Highway 59 at around 7:15 p.m. sent fire departments from Summerdale and Robertsdale to the scene along with several ambulances and law enforcement.
Police reported that several people were entrapped and that firefighters had to extricate them from the wrecked vehicles.
A medical helicopter was also dispatched to the scene for a critically injured patient.
State Highway 59 northbound was shut down for more than an hour.
Police are still investigating the cause of the wreck.
