5-Year-Old Dies in Mobile House Fire

MOBILE, AL. On Thursday, September 25, 2025, at approximately 11:47 p.m., Mobile Fire-Rescue responded to the 1500 block of Sharon Drive in reference to a residential house fire. Upon arrival, firefighters observed a home in flames.
Two juveniles were home alone at the time of the fire. The 12-year-old was awakened by a smoke alarm and the smell of smoke.
The 12-year-old male victim was able to make it out of the home safely, but he told firefighters that his 5-year-old brother was still inside, and he was unable to get to him due to the intense fire spreading quickly.
Firefighters entered the burning structure and found the 5-year-old victim, and he was quickly transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Despite ongoing resuscitation efforts, the victim was pronounced deceased at the hospital
The cause of the fire remains under investigation at this time.
Police reported that the parents were out to dinner during the fire.
