2 Dead in Murder-Suicide at Baptist Hospital

HOMEWOOD, Ala. The Homewood police responded to a shooting at the Baptist Health Brookwood Hospital located at 2010 Brookwood Medical Center Dr at approximately 9:25 p.m. Sunday evening on March 1st, 2026.
Officers were called to the medical center for gunshots being fired according to a police spokesperson.
Police began searching the facility and headed to where witnesses heard the gunshots where they found a man and a woman who were deceased.
The victim, 24-year-old Precious Elicia J’anae Johnson, of Birmingham, was a patient at the hospital and was shot multiple times, according to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office.
The shooter was identified as Kynath William Terry, Jr., 19, of Midfield.
Police confirmed that the two were husband and wife.
Police say preliminary investigations show the shooting was an apparent murder-suicide, with the coroner’s office adding it was a domestic assault.
Baptist Health Brookwood Hospital says they are fully cooperating with police. While they do not comment on ongoing investigations, they confirmed Monday morning that the hospital is no longer on lockdown and it was operating as normal.
Homewood Police say nobody else was injured in the shooting.
At this time Homewood police stated that there is no other information available.
