2 Charged in Rental Fraud Scheme

The Mobile police received a complaint from a property management firm that someone had broken into a vacant rental property and was living on the premises in the 2100 block of Webb Avenue.
Officers responded to a theft of property incident. Upon arrival, officers discovered someone was indeed unlawfully residing in the home.
Officers learned the owner of the home runs a business where she leases homes in the city. She arrived at the property and discovered someone inside. Upon further investigation, officers discovered the home was listed on social media and rented out by an unknown subject who collected money from the unknowing tenant.
Prior to the incident, the business owner discovered someone was also living in a home she owns in the 200 block of Parkway Drive W.
MPD officers, through the course of the investigation, found two male subjects who were involved in the scheme and was able to track them down.
Police arrested Tarus Wilson, 19, and Quinton Rogers, 26 and transported to Metro Jail.
