18-Wheeler Crashes Off I-10-Driver Burned and is in Serious Condition

MOBILE, AL. Mobile police officers and the Mobile Fire Rescue departments responded to a serious wreck on Interstate 10 WB where a car hauler crashed off the interstate to the street below near Tennessee Street.
Emergency personnel found the 18-wheeler on fire and the driver of the truck with serious burns at around 2 a.m. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Police shut down part of I-10 and the surface streets below as they investigated the wreck including using a drone.
The preliminary investigation shows that the semi-truck, which was hauling vehicles, left the interstate after a collision with another vehicle. The semi-truck struck a concrete barrier, causing it to go over the bridge and land on Tennessee Street.
An SUV broke loose from the tractor trailer and came to rest on its side on the interstate against a concrete barrier.
Crews with the Alabama Department of Transportation arrived to assist with clearing large debris.
At last check, the victim is listed in critical condition.
Police said that the wreck is still under investigation.
