15-Year-Old Teen Leads Police On Chase Spanning Five Counties
TUSCALOOSA AL
A wild police pursuit this past week took officers through five counties before they were able to put an end to it.
Probably even more remarkable than the speed and the distance of the chase was the fact that the driver was just 15 years old.
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency said that they arrested a 15-year-old after he led officers on a pursuit that spanned through five counties.
According to ALEA, the chase began on Saturday at approximately 7:20 a.m. in Centre, Alabama in Cherokee County when officers with the Centre Police Department attempted to stop a 2023 Nissan Armada.
The driver did not stop, resulting in the pursuit.
The driver led officers south onto U.S. 411 before entering Interstate 59.
ALEA says as officers chased the suspect, the driver’s vehicle struck two civilian cars in Jefferson County.
From there the driver continued fleeing police until they struck a fence and a building exiting Interstate 59 at the 77-mile marker in Tuscaloosa County.
The driver then attempted to flee the scene on foot but was apprehended by an ALEA trooper.
The teen, who police did not release their name, was transported to the Tuscaloosa County Juvenile Detention Center and he is charged with Felony Eluding but could face additional charges.
Through their investigation, ALEA discovered that the teen was a resident of New Market, Tennessee and are still trying to find out how and why he was in Alabama.
