Mobile police were driving on Interstate 10 on Tuesday, March 11th, 2025, at around 8:04 p.m. when the officer observed a vehicle approaching from behind at a high rate of speed.
The driver was driving recklessly and came close to striking the police officer’s vehicle.
After the vehicle passed the officer’s vehicle, the officer turned on his emergency equipment and initiated a traffic stop.
But the female driver was uncooperative and refused to identify herself and quickly drove off.
Officers pursued the vehicle, and the driver, later identified as Janay Summers 41, eventually stopped on Michigan Avenue near Brookley Field.
Summers was taken into custody at that time and arrested.
At the time of her arrest, Summers was on probation for a previous crime that she had been found guilty of.
Summers faces charges of:
THEFT OF PROPERTY 3RD DEGREE (MISD)
RECKLESS ENDANGERMENT
CHILD-ENDANGERING WELFARE
PROBATION REVOCATION
ATTEMPT TO ELUDE-FELONY
RESISTING ARREST
