Woman Charged With Wilmer Murder

MOBILE Ala. On Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at 10:51 pm, The Mobile County Sheriff’s Office responded to a shooting that occurred at the 14000 block of Mort Road in Wilmer Al.
The victim, Andre Griffin (DOB 01/27/67), was found inside the residence with a gunshot to his head and both hands which were in cast.
Griffin was pronounced deceased on the scene by EMS.
The sheriff’s office said that VELMA EDWARDS-NIX (07/14/63) lived in the home with Andre.
The sheriff’s office said that Velma stated Andre tried to choke her and she got her shotgun and shot Andre. After she shot him, she ran to her neighbor’s home, and they called 911.
The sheriff’s office conducted their investigation and arrested VELMA EDWARDS-NIX and charged her with Murder.
