Whistler Man Arrested For Drugs After Police Pursuit

MOBILE, AL. Police officers in Mobile spotted a traffic violation in the area of Old Shell Road and Bush Avenue at about 1 30 a.m. Thursday morning, February 19, 2026.
When officers activated their blue lights and sirens to conduct a traffic stop, the driver, later identified as Demarcus Sanders of Whistler, took off on the officers and refused to stop.
Police also reported that Sanders was throwing things out of the vehicle.
Other officers responded to assist in the pursuit and the items were recovered and Sanders was taken into custody.
Sanders, 40, was arrested and charged with first-degree possession of marijuana, unlawful possession of controlled substance with intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia, attempt to elude, possession of controlled substance and tampering with physical evidence.
He has been booked into the Mobile Metro Jail and is being held on a bond.
