Two Persons Shot at Pritchard Dollar General During Dispute

PRITCHARD Ala. On Sunday, May 25, 2025, at 9:31 am, Prichard Police responded to the Dollar General located at 1645 St Stephens Road, in reference to the shooting of two persons inside the store.
The Mobile County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes and Crime Scene Unit were called and investigators also responded to the scene.
Witnesses, Dollar General Employees and the shooter were on the scene when MCSO responded, and all were detained and questioned about the shooting.
After interviewing the witnesses and reviewing surveillance, the investigation revealed that Teron Curtis, DOB 7/10/79, came in around 7:54 Sunday morning and purchased items and left at 7:59 am.
The investigation further showed that Curtis returned at 9:15 am angry and started threatening the cashier, stating she did not give him what he purchased.
He threatened he would bring his girlfriend back to handle the problem.
The cashier then called a family member stating she had been threatened and that Curtis was coming back.
The Family member of the employee came to the store as well as Curtis and his girlfriend. Curtis and his girlfriend, Lakenya Russell, DOB 12/27/85, allegedly attacked the cashier as well as the family member. During the altercation, the family member pulled a firearm and shot them both.
The surveillance video shows the altercation as stated by the witnesses.
Curtis and Russell both fled the scene and drove themselves to a local hospital. The family member placed her gun down and remained on scene until the police arrived.
MCSO Detectives went to the hospital to interview Teron Curtis and Lakenya Russell. Russell was in surgery and Curtis was being treated for his injury.
No arrests have been made, and the case has now been turned over to the District Attorney’s Office.
