Teenager Charged in Bay Minette Shooting

BAY MINETTE, AL. A report of gunshots being fired sent Bay Minette police officers to the area of 1000 block of Newport Parkway near Abernathy Avenue on Thursday, September 10th, 2026, at around 4:30 p.m.
When police arrived to the area, they found an 18-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the upper leg.
Bay Minette Fire and an ambulance were dispatched to the scene, and the teen was taken to a Mobile hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
Investigators said they detained a 17-year-old boy and a 23-year-old man in connection with the shooting.
Police now say that the 17-year-old has been identified as the shooter.
Police also noted that a school bus with children on board was driving through the area during the shooting. No children were injured during this incident.
Officers said they have impounded vehicles and are waiting for warrants to search them.
Officers also detained a 15-year-old boy accused of possessing a stolen gun. Investigators later determined that he was not involved with the shooting, but he will be charged with possession of a stolen gun.
