ALEA Pursuit Ends With Arrest in Atmore

ATMORE Ala. An Alabama state trooper on patrol observed a traffic infraction on Tuesday shortly after 9 a.m. and attempted to pull the vehicle over.

With the trooper’s emergency equipment activated, the driver of the vehicle ignored all efforts of the trooper and sped off leading the trooper on a pursuit into Escambia (Alabama) County and through Atmore.

The Atmore Police, deputy sheriffs, additional troopers and Poarch Creek Police Departments entered the pursuit and attempted to stop the driver.

The state trooper stated that the driver, who was later identified as Travis Mitchell, 40, continued fleeing through Atmore but eventually wrecked and fled the vehicle on foot.

Mitchell was immediately apprehended and has been charged with:

Possession of a Controlled Substance
Attempting to Elude a Police Officer
Possession of a Controlled Substance
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Mitchell is currently being held at the Escambia jail and has no bond at this time.
