Much Needed Rain Also Brings Wrecks
BALDWIN COUNTY Ala
By: Rick McCann
The much-needed rain along Alabama’s Gulf Coast also brought some slick roads and more than a dozen wrecks to the area but no serious accidents were reported.
Accidents along area interstates on Sunday damaged several vehicles and injured at least five people, though there were no serious injuries reported.
Around 7:45 p.m. Sunday, an 18-wheeler also slid off I-10 near the 54 mile-marker and two
heavy-duty wreckers were needed to pull it back onto the pavement.
There were also a few accidents reported on surface roads in some of the cities in the area but once again, most were fender-benders with minor injuries.
A few additional traffic collisions were reported Monday evening and early Tuesday morning including a serious wreck that occurred in the Barnwell community at around 7:30 a.m. when a vehicle crashed and went off the road near State Highway 181 and Sherwood Highland Road.
The driver had multiple injuries and was treated on-scene by local firefighters before being transported to an area hospital.
