Storm Damage, Accidents Reported Sunday Morning

While some areas of Baldwin County received nothing more than some rain showers during the early morning hours on Sunday, other parts of the area received damaging winds, lightning, down trees, and power lines that were brought down by falling branches or wind gusts.
On Sunday morning, Alabama Power reported more than 100,000 power outages statewide, the results of strong storms that were mainly in central and Southwest Alabama.
Taking a drive down State Highway 225 in the Crossroads Community in the early hours of Sunday morning, we found down trees, debri,s and several vehicles involved in accidents after hitting trees that had fallen in the road.
Other areas where damage was noticeable included parts of Highway 59 near Pine Grove, Bay Minette, as well as a stretch of Interstate 65.
During the storm, there was a report of several transformer fires as well as a grass fire in Fort Morgan.
There are no known injuries related were directly related to the storm that has been reported.
