Spanish Fort Shooting Leaves One Person Dead

An early morning shooting has left one person dead in Spanish Fort.

Police and the fire department were dispatched to a cardiac arrest emergency on Artillery Range West shortly after 7 a.m. but while on the way they were informed that it was a possible shooting.

Fire department and EMS personnel staged close by while police went to the home.

There, police officers found that one person had been shot.

Firefighters and medics immediately undertook lifesaving measures however the person succumbed to their injuries on-scene.

According to Spanish Fort Police Chief John Barber, officers have determined that this was a self-inflicted gunshot.
