Search Continues For Missing Boater

Authorities have conducted searches daily for a man who slipped into the Mobile Bay after his boat had engine trouble.

Another man and a young girl managed to float and swim to dry land, but 
40-year-old John DeJonge is still missing.

Multiple emergency agencies including ALEA, the US Coast Guard, the Spanish Fort Fire Department, and the Daphne Search and Rescue have all been diligently searching every area of the Mobile Bay but there have been no signs of DeJonge.

On Thursday, February 20, 2025, and again on Friday, February 21st,  rescues using Sonar and other scanning devices have been searching areas further out in the Alabama River and at the mouth of the bay.

With the heavy rains that we had several days ago and the fast and frequent currents that come in and out of the bay, items sometimes can get stirred up and are sometimes moved into the river system.

Searchers will continue to search until the family receives closure.
