ELBERTA, Ala. An emergency 911 call into the Baldwin County Communications Center on Sunday evening, October 11, 2026, did not end the way that emergency responders hope when they rush out the door to help someone in need.
At around 7:20 p.m., the Perdido Beach and Lillian Fire Departments were dispatched to a residence on Deer Acres Drive for a report of a person having a heart attack, but that emergency quickly turned to a more dangerous response as they were informed that it was a shooting.
The person had been shot, possibly in the head.
EMS and Elberta Police were also dispatched to the scene.
A medical helicopter was also dispatched.
Authorities say that the gunshot appears to have been self-inflicted, and the person succumbed to their injuries on scene.
At this time, law enforcement is still investigating.
