Person Being Held at Robertsdale Jail Dies

On Sunday evening, a prisoner being held at the Robertsdale jail became the latest person to commit suicide in Baldwin County this year.

Just after 7 p.m., an officer noticed that the man, who police have not identified publicly, hanging in his cell.

The Robertsdale Fire Department and an ambulance were dispatched to the police department located at 23335 E Chicago St for a person having a heart attack and turning blue.

Upon arriving, it was determined that the man was already deceased.

Information that we have obtained shows that the person may have hung themselves in the jail cell.

Currently, the Robertsdale Police and the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office are investigating.
