Pell City Police Fatally Shoot Armed Man

Pell City police fatally shot an armed man Wednesday night during an incident at an apartment complex.
A Pell City police officer said that they were called to an apartment on 23rd Street at around 5:50 p.m. and that it was reported that there was a disturbance involving a person who was armed with a hatchet.
Pierce William Cole, 22, was making threats of violence and striking vehicles when officers arrived.
After giving Cole orders to drop the weapon, an officer discharged their firearm, striking the man.
Medics took him by ambulance to UAB St. Vincent’s St. Clair Hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries, but he succumbed to his injuries.
Cole’s body was taken to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences for an autopsy.
The St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the shooting.
