Multiple Agencies Respond to Spanish Fort Boater in Distress

A 911 call about a boater in distress sent multiple agencies to an area off Battleship Parkway in Spanish Fort Saturday just after the noon hour.
Reports that a boat was taking on water and that a person was ill and in need of immediate assistance sent emergency responders to several areas trying to locate the vessel.
The Spanish Fort police and fire departments were first dispatched to the area of 5872 Battleship Parkway at 12:03 p.m.
Someone notified 911 that the boat was trying to make it back into the Tensaw boat launch area and the Alabama Marine Police and EMS were dispatched to the area.
Eventually, contact with the boater was made and he returned to shore safely.
There were no injuries and the boater was medically evaluated.
