Mobile Police Detective Arrested in Daphne For Child Sex Abuse

DAPHNE, Ala. A Mobile police detective has been arrested in Daphne on charges of sexual abuse of a child.
Daphne Police Chief Brian Gulsby said that Jacob Marcus Clifford, 30, is charged with four counts of sexual abuse of a child less than 12 and three counts of first-degree sodomy.
An investigation involving Clifford began after the Daphne police received a complaint earlier this month that alleged sexual abuse of a child under 12 that was perpetrated by a adult.
The Baldwin County Multi-Disciplinary Team, which includes members from law enforcement, the Alabama Department of Human Resources, the Baldwin County Child Advocacy Center and the Baldwin County District Attorney’s Office, launched an investigation.
Police gathered enough evidence to obtain an arrest warrant for Clifford he was arrested Wednesday night and taken to the Baldwin County Jail, where he remains.
No other information is being released by law enforcement at this time.
